Can I have nutritional therapy instead of seeing my doctor?
Nutritional therapy complements conventional medical care, but it does not replace it. Your GP can investigate any symptoms, run standard medical tests and monitor any conditions you may have. If you are under supervision by a GP or medical team for any conditions, it is recommended to advise them that you are also supporting your health with nutritional therapy.
Is it safe to stop any medication if nutritional therapy helps my symptoms improve?
If you are on prescribed medication, then you need to work with your GP to determine if medication can be reduced or stopped altogether and at what pace. Withdrawal from some medications can cause side effects or carry a health risk. If you are taking over the counter medications such as antihistamines, pain relief or anti-inflammatories, you may be able to determine based on your symptoms whether your requirement for them changes as a result of nutritional support.
What is the cancellation policy?
72 hours are required for a full refund. If you need to reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, a cancellation fee may apply and non attendance of your appointment will incur the full consultation fee.
Can children have nutritional therapy?
Children up to 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and an additional consent form will need to be signed. Nutritional therapy can offer the same benefits for children and adults.
I've completed all the sessions in my therapy package. Can I continue with my programme?
Most recommendations are intended to improve the quality of your diet to form long-lasting good eating habits. If you have been asked to limit or eliminate foods from your diet, these recommendations may either be for a short term period, or longer term if allergies or intolerances are involved. In your last follow up, the longer term recommendations will be summarised so that you have general guidelines on how to eat well to support your health.
In many cases, supplements are recommended to be taken for a limited time period as detailed in the supplement plan (if applicable). If any supplements are recommended longer term, this will be discussed in the final follow up appointment.
If you would like to have more follow up appointments, this can be arranged as many times as you feel necessary. Refresher follow ups several months after your programme are also an option.
What payment options are available?
At present, the payment required will be agreed at the point of booking, and payment needs to be made by the date of the first appointment by bank transfer.
Since my last appointment, I have been experiencing new symptoms. What should I do?
Certain symptoms should always be investigated by a doctor. You can also call 111 for medical advice when your GP is not available. Please always seek immediate medical attention for any of the following: persistent or unexplained pain, unexplained bleeding or discharge from nipple, vagina or rectum, blood in sputum, vomit, urine, stools; breast lumps, calf swelling, difficulty swallowing, excessive thirst, increased urination, inability to gain or lose weight, loss of appetite, paralysis, slurred speech, unexplained bruising, rash or weight loss, black tarry stools, painless ulcers or fissures, bleeding in pregnancy.
If your symptoms do not fall into any of the above categories but coincide with changes that you have made or new supplements that you are taking, feel free to contact me at any time on 07873 121616.
I do not like some of the new foods recommended or am having new symptoms when I eat them. What should I do?
New foods or flavours may take several tries before your taste buds adapt and recognise the flavour as safe and familiar. If you are able to, try the new food every few days to see if you get used to them. One or a few spoonfuls may be enough at first.
If you are experiencing bloating, a change in bowel movements, nausea, acid reflux, skin irritation, head aches or any other unwelcome symptoms, feel free to contact me to discuss what might be causing the new symptoms.
How do I purchase supplements?
If supplements have been recommended and you are happy to take them, you can either find them in local health stores or online. If you have any queries about obtaining your supplements at the best price, please do get in touch.
